This is a hidden gem in Kyoto. The staff is polite and welcoming. The carrot cake was amazing, and so was the cafe late. If you are in Kyoto, head there to relax in this cozy and friendly coffee shop. And they speak English and have English menu.

My husband and I stumbled upon this gem near Nijo Castle by chance. The carrot cake was amazing—probably the best we’ve had outside our own kitchen. Buttery, moist, and perfectly spiced, just the way we like it. We also tried the BLT and egg croissant sandwiches, along with a cafe latte and a pour-over coffee. Everything was delicious, and the vibe of the place was just right—relaxed and welcoming. Personally, I would’ve loved the sandwiches even more with a bread option like shokupan or regular sliced bread, but that’s just a preference. What made it even more special was chatting with the owner. He shared how he started the café after stepping away from a hectic career in the pharmaceutical industry, once his kids were grown. Stories like that make these cosy little spots even more memorable when traveling.

Found this Cafe on Google. It was a nice size and cozy. The chef was friendly and talked to us about our trip to Japan. I had the taco plate. I was skeptical about ordering tacos in Japan as a Hispanic person. These we wonderful! I recommend them.

We absolutely loved this cozy cafe near our hotel! The ambience was warm and inviting, and every bite was delightful — from the breakfast toasts, BLT, and hash browns to the heavenly matcha cake and blueberry cheesecake. The light blend coffee and hot chocolate were just what we needed. It felt like a family-owned gem, and the owner’s hospitality made our experience even more special. He spoke English well, took time for a friendly chat, and wished us a wonderful time in Japan. Such a personal touch! If given the chance, we’d definitely return. Highly recommended — a well-deserved 5-star spot!

Wonderful Cafe with a western culture breakfast cuisine, a nice brunch change from our usual Japanese diet. Run by the friendliest Japanese couple you could even hope to meet, that's saying something. Delicious tasty fresh food was perfect, plus great coffee.

We stumbled across this cafe at 2:30 in the on a Monday which was very quiet. The gentleman working spoke excellent English and was so very warm and welcoming. We had simple coffee and toast and it was exactly what we were looking for.

This was such a beautiful experience from start to finish. The lovely man who I’m assuming was the owner was beyond kind and had extremely clear English! We loved having a chat to him and supporting the beautiful cafe. A nice tasting coffee, oat milk available here. We will definitely be back next time we are in Kyoto
